How Can Somatic Therapy Help Me?

Your inner emotions imprint on the central nervous system and affect the physical body. Emotional responses to trauma, emotional pain, and grief often become so automatic and familiar that we simply integrate the pain into our beings instead of separating from them. One of the hallmarks of the Sounding Heart approach is that we combine somatic therapy with sound healing and traditional psychotherapy. This allows you to escape the “amygdala hijack” trap that activates your fight-or-flight response when stress strikes. When you are constantly in a state of fight-or-flight, it can cause anxiety, anger, depression, and other strong emotions. Research shows that the amygdala actually relaxes when feelings are named. Once you learn how to calm the amygdala, you will begin to notice a shift that creates sensations of warmth and relaxation that weren’t there before.

Using vocal tones, you’ll be guided through a process of finally being able to name your repressed emotions.
